Role Purpose
To support SAP’s vision and
growth, the Government Affairs group in SAP proactively engages with
Governments across the globe to facilitate a continuous interaction and
collaboration on policy, regulatory and partnership ecosystems. The Government
Affairs is a part of the ‘Marketing and Solutions’ board area of SAP. The group
follows a three-pillar approach covering:
- Public Policy: Initiate/Support business-friendly policies and legislations, proactively support the mitigation of regulatory impact, and presentation of SAP point of view on various policy developments.
- Thought Leadership: SAP
visibility & reputation among Government stakeholders, Government
partnerships, supporting key initiatives such as Industry 4.0, future of
work, emerging technologies, sustainability, CSR etc.
- Business Support: Offer strategic advice to sales teams on various Government initiatives and also work with Governments in the need identification for various strategic programs.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will report
to the Vice President of Government Affairs for Asia Pacific and Japan. The
incumbent will have the responsibility of managing the Government Affairs
activities for India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The position will be based out
of New Delhi or any other location as required.The incumbent will be
responsible for strategic planning and operations for Government Affairs in
India in close alignment to business objectives while maintaining strict budget
and ethical compliance.
Public Policy
- Continuous, proactive, and strategic
engagement on policy issues with central and state Governments in India
with the aim of favorable regulatory environment for SAP.
- Represent SAP on key consultative groups
on policy issues.
- Work with IT industry associations,
Indian and international chambers on larger IT industry and regulatory
issues
- Participate in preparation of policy
papers, response to policy statements, point of views on key policies
including IT, taxation, trade and IPR etc.
- Work with internal teams and India
business and R&D leadership to proactively plan for compliance to
regulatory requirements.
- Support the information requirements of
regional and global teams on policy and regulatory developments in India.
- Create knowledge content on policies
based on global experiences and lead thought leadership engagements with
stakeholders based on the same.
- Internal enablement of business teams on
policy developments.
Thought

- Strategic engagements
with central and state Governments on key IT initiatives, programs and
projects to ensure proactive coverage to SAP as the trusted technology
partner.
- Maintain long term relationship with key
Government stakeholders.
- Participate in program committees as
industry representative
- Develop and maintain a network within IT
and Consulting industry to ensure addressing of common interest areas.
- Conceptualize and drive
industry-Government partnerships.
- Represent SAP on Indian and
international platforms as a thought leader. Position SAP thought
leadership content through facilitation of participation of SAP teams on
thought leadership platforms.
- Establish, facilitate, and work on SAP
executive connects with senior Government leadership.
- Maintain a close working relationship
and alignment with internal teams such as marketing, CSR, communications
and corporate affairs.
- Position SAP priorities around
sustainability with the Government.
Business
Support
- Maintain strategic relationship with key
influencers and Government nodal agencies
- Provide strategic insights to sales
teams on status and progress of key Government programs and potential
business opportunities
- Strategic planning with business units,
LoBs and internal teams, wherever called for.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of overall
work experience with a minimum of five years in a senior leadership
position in the Government Affairs/ Government Relations/ Policy/
Strategic Government engagements/ country digitization roles.
- Experience of working
with central and state Governments, IT and trade associations and think
tanks.
- Educational
qualifications: A master’s degree in Public Administration, Public
Affairs, Business Administration, or related field.
- Ability to work with
multiple stakeholders at all levels and diverse objectives.
